Not starting when Hot
#1
Hi Friends

We dearly love our 2002 1.4 Petrol Berlingo. Sadly she is not starting when warm, unless you clutch start (down a slight hill) cold starts are fine. We turn the engine off after even a short run, nothing. Engine does not turn over, warning lights go slightly dim. Battery was our first thought but tried that, no difference. When running its great, everything working. We dont have an immobilizer (Another thought)
Any help would be appreciated!
Take care
Pete

I'd be looking at the starter motor and its connections ,failing when warm.

Loose earth straps to chassis is another possibility , they tend to heat if not making a proper connection . The earth strap from the engine to the chassis is another.

Is it possible to swop the coil pack for a known good one. On old cars I've had with coils/distributors etc, not firing well when hot was a sign the coil was breaking down.
Regards,
Griff
OOps Read post again and you say engine does not turn over so +1 on brodfathers advice.

Get someone to hold the key in the starting position and give the starter a knock with a hammer, see if it makes any difference. Make sure its not in gear in case the engine does turn over .
