Utilising full storage space
#1
Hey all

I have an 04 Berlingo Van 1.9d, with lawnmower strimmer, blower various gardening tools in the back. Could do with freeing up some floor space as the dog is gonna start coming to work to.

Any ideas for above storage.... maybe cargo net or some sort of shelf a third of the way down so I could get strimmer, blower, rakes and spades housed above.

Cant find any above shelfs on net. Do Citroen market cargo nets for this sort of thing?? Any suggestions most appreciated.

Hi Mike

The cargo nets that Citroen and others sell are normally the type that go above the rear seat (in a multispace) to the roof to retain luggage or as a dog guard. From what you are saying, it sounds like you are you after something to run from front to back. If there is nothing ready-made out there, then it might be a case of getting something custom made? I know that in the multispace, there are sockets at the top of the rear pillars for attaching nets/guards/bars as per the photo

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

Why not fit a plywood sheet? I used that method to make bed in my old Land Rover. I made a 12 mm plywood platform to sleep on, which doubled as secure storage for my luggage underneath. I made the edges fit the contours of the car sides (easier in an old Land Rover than a Berlingo, mind) and stiffened it with 1x2" battens underneath. The whole shebang was secured to exisiting bolt holes.
Berlingo due in June.

I was going to put one of them ventilation spinners on the roof with the dog being in the back. So if we were to put a ply platform in he wouldnt get so much ventilation or light from the front as I have security guards on the back windows blocking all light. So decided to use a mesh grill material hopefully can find the same material citroen use for the grill bulkheads and assemble about a foot down from the ceiling
Any suggestions mostly appreciated.

No idea where you get the stuff from, possibly industrial storage supplier or similar but I have got galvanised mesh type material in the garage for holding plastic storage container bins. Probably 1.5 to 1.75 inch spacings.

Got mine off a supplier who used to come round selling nuts, bolts and consumables from a van, think it was SPAFAX if my memory serves me, you are talking about 20 years or so ago...
