VF7 means country of origin France, marque Citroën.
Then you have the two character model identifier like "X2" or "MC" or "Y4" (etc etc)
Next comes the three character engine short code; common ones are 4HX, KFX, RHY
Following is a single character transaxle code which I can't shed much light on.
Then you've the last eight characters; my understanding is the first two or four of these offer more detail but I'm not sure quite how; the basic sequence thereafter is numerical progression - eg, 6P229898 is older than 6P229940.
