Manifold O2 sensor

Hi all,

After Receiving the upstream sensor yesterday I duly went to try and remove the old one using the 22mm sensor socket that I purchased and fell flat on my face. After removing the downstream sensor in the exhaust pipe I thought that the one in the manifold would be a breeze only to find that it will not budge and that the socket is rounding the edges.

I do have a normal 22mm long socket that I can use but was wondering if I cut the wires can I reattached them using electrical connectors if I fail to budge the sensor. Also is it possible to heat up the manifold using a blow torch or would this do damage to it and the Cat.
