Oil dipstick level

Hi Folks,

According to the diagram in my manual, the dipstick should have a couple of "v" type notches on it to monitor oil level but on taking mine out there are none that I can see at all. On wiping the stick and then sticking it back in and out again, the oil comes up to roughly about 35mm. Is this low?

Did Burt ever answer this ? mines a 1.6 HDI with a yellow plastic dipstick with no marks on it at all.
It's in a disgusting condition, so looking for a new one.

You're lucky - the plastic bit normally falls off into the sump ! It could be a repair - I melted a piece of kid's paintbrush handle onto the remains of the metal part and it's still there.
