You have to ask yourself the question how far do you want to go with a 16 year old van. If you were to do the work yourself I'd say go for it fix it. But if you will be paying someone it would have to...

You should be getting 14 volt from the battery with the engine running, to test a bad battery it needs to be load tested.

Been in your situation before cheap ones are false economy, MEYLE and Lemforder are the ones I'd go for these days.

Very common problem remove wipers and scuttle panel give it a dam good clean out drain points each side will be blocked

My 2007 1.6HDI has done the exact same since I bought it from 30k I guess it's slightly leaking valve stem sills.

2.0 HDI is a great lump, but nothing wrong with a 1.6HDI a well looked after one anyway.

As mark said it is paramount that the filter from the bango bolt was removed? Was it a cheap Chinese recon turbo?

Definitely sounds like BSI related problems hopefully if your lucky the BSI reset will do the trick.

Have you tried a BSI reset? As for the airbag light check the connectors under the seat have not come loose or broken wires.

I can relate to this on my 07 1.6 HDI the OBD2 port is a rubbish fit, I managed to force mine on still wasn't all the way home but I managed to read the codes. I have used my code reader on many car...
