I can't say for diesels, but on petrol models a no-start condition can come from the underbonnet fuse panel or BSM just giving up the ghost. It's an uncoded item so you can swap like for like. From memory some came with an extra fuse you are supposed to remove for dependable operation - BBAReman mention this shortcoming on their website.
Anyhow, I puts the battery charger on the car yesterday just to top it up and whilst it was charging decided to look again at the cam sensor. Took it off cleaned it up as it has a bit of oil on it (don't know why) and put it back and as it has an elongated hole for the bolt decided to put it in the middle instead of close to the camshaft sprocket and presto! the engine starts every time..... Now the problem is it vibrates heavily as if one of the injectors isn't functioning correctly is there any way of checking these other than taking them in to a diesel specialist? Is there any other checks I can do? Also there seems to be a dull knocking coming from the engine could this be big ends? It did not do this prior to the head change. Thanks
