Missing Floor Plug
#1
Just lifted floor mats of my Mk3 and noticed that there are 2 holes in the floor of the drivers footwell. One has a plug in it and the other is missing the plug.

Anyone know where to get one of these plugs other than a dealer ?

Find an engineering supplier OR Google for a 'blind grommet' of the correct size.
As a last resort you can search eBay:

Thanks Ol'Jeffers. Bog standard grommets would probably do the job.

Having looked at some floor mats which are available to buy I see that there are 2 equivalent holes in the driver's floor mat. So I think that these "plugs" are actually designed to hold the driver's floor mat in place.

Personally I wouldn't rely on the presence of floor mats to keep the floor watertight.
I'm assuming that when you look through the holes you can see the road beneath.
I would fit blind grommets and put the mats over the top. It sounds like one of Citroen's
typical ill-thought out ways to save on-costs.

No can't see the road underneath. Grommets should do the job.

Thanks a million.

i have a mk2, it has two little up stands in that location that plg into the rubber mats to keep them in place, only on the drivers side as i remember,
i think they have a very coarse thread on the underside that screw into the carpet

If you mean you have lifted the actual carpet & the hole is in the metal floor then Halfords do bags of assorted gromits. If you mean holes in the existing carpets then the holes don't go through the floor just through the carpet. If you buy a new set of floor mats they should include a pair of these plastic bits that screw into carpet to stop driver's mat moving.

That's exactly what it looks like but one is missing. The hole goes through the carpet and the floor. I guess that someone accidently kicked it out.

Had a Mk2 myself but never noticed them.

Anyone know where to get them, other than a breakers yard ?
