Full Version: Suspension Ball Joint

Hey guys, my steering wheel has gone off centre and I thought it must be the tracking. Had it done at the local garage.
However took it back thinking they hadn't done it correctly as the steering wheel was still on the wonk...turns out the OSF Suspension Ball Joint is badly worn and needs replacing. This is causing the crooked steering wheel apparently??

How simple is this? Is it a push in fitting or bolt on? 
Any part numbers for what I'd actually need??

Best identify what type of suspension control arm (wishbone) is fitted to your Berlingo as there are two types, a pressed steel version that has a riveted or bolted on ball joint like in the link oilyrag posted, and a cast steel version where the ball joint is part of the arm and isn't replaceable, (the whole arm will need to be replaced) 

If you have the pressed steel version and the ball joint is riveted in place you will have to drill out the rivets which can be an awkward job, the replacement ball joint can then be bolted in place.

Best buy a Haynes Manual is my advice, sorry if it sounds harsh but meant in the best possible way.

Sourcing a part ( part number ) .. just ask for the part in your local Motor Factors they will have it as they will be supplying the local motor trade, price will be competetive.
As geoff says, give your local motor factor your reg and possibly your VIN and the will source the correct part. I wouldnt waste your time with a new ball joint, better to fit the whole are as the rubber bushes wear and ther isnt a lot of difference in the price.

Quite easy, but dont pull the driveshaft out of the gearbox Shy
