Daylight Running Lights for Berlingo XTR
#1
Hello, i'm driving a berlingo XTR. I'm interested in placing DRL LED's in my car. I can't find photo's or kits especially for the citroen berlingo.

Can anyone help me out here?

Hi Medic.
I have just bought some Ring Automotive ones for mine.
Not fitted them yet.
Let you know how I get on...

I've not seen anything specific for the Berlingo, but there are lots of universal ones out there. They all seem to comprise of strips of LED's for you to position where you think best ( and in line with lighting regs )

Some of them are flexible strips which,if you have the time and patience, you can fit inside the headlight unit.

Obviously you have to completely take the headlight apart, which can be very difficult,if not impossible but it will give a factory fitted look.

Some other types are automatically dimmed when you switch on the main lights.

How are they wired in though? In Scandinavia the headlights used to be wired through the charging circuit as well as the normal side/headlamp switch,so that as soon as you started the engine the lights came on.

I may get round to ordering some DRL's within a week or two, just trying to find the right ones and compare prices.

I have looked at the Ring ones,I especially like the ones that just dim when you turn the headlights/sidelights on as opposed to turning off completely.I reckon that would look nice at night as it would be an extra pair of sidelights.
Though I should point out that I never drive on sidelights,it's headlights all the time, during the day too.

The only thing that puts me off the Ring ones is that they are 22cm wide, which may look a bit too much (I intend to mount them in the lower grille on my Mk3 XTR) but I have been looking at the Philips Daylight 4,which are only 12cm wide and would fit much nicer between the grille slats.
But at around £80-90,they are quite expensive.
There are plenty on fleabay, including some in Germany with the automatic dimmer fitted, which are around the £30 mark.
But I suppose you get what you pay for.

What I'd really like to do is take the headlamp apart and fit some inside the lamp, but as the car isn't all that old I don't fancy chancing it.

Just been reading the reviews on Amazon for these lamps,a couple of people have had problems with the lamps interfering with radio reception and satnav TMC reception Confusedcratch:
But,there was a review from someone with a Mk3 Berlingo who hadn't had any problems.
Time will tell.
