Passenger front seat storage platform
#1
I have the MultiSpace sometimes as a micro camper with a solo bed and under bed storage. I also use a couple of plastic storage boxes for the camping stove and clothes/toiletries etc; but these take up space in the camping area. When camping I do put the clothes box on the front passenger seat but then it is not very accessible from inside the car.

I  have thought of building a platform over the passenger front seat i.e make more usable space when the back of the seat is laid down; however as it is the seat back does not lie flat. Four legs and piece of plywood as a top might work.
Has anyone done this sort of modification. I would appreciate details or comments. I will not use it for items when travelling for safety reasons as items would move about when braking. I don't want to remove the seat altogether.

Whilst the "natural" laid down position of the seat is not flat, I find that simply by applying more pressure I can get the ratchet to allow a click or two more, that does allow the back to get to a flat position. That may not be the case with all seats, but it worked for my model, and saved me the trouble of building a flat platform exactly as you describe.

Thank you zmarties. I will try to get a few more clicks on the seat ratchet. I have now tried a small cushion to make up the difference in height which might be enough.

For the rear of the car I had moved away from a plastic box to Songmics storage boxes; these have a front opening door; the Songmics boxes hook and loop together so can position on top of each other. I have now bought another Songmics box unit for the front seat set up, with their front opening it is much more convenient.
