Vehicle tax
#1
Hi
I have a 2014 multispace and absolutely love especially as mine has the opening glass in tailgate, so I managed to get a 2015 multispace for my daughter.
Both these cars are wheelchair adapted mine is my work vehicle,  but I'm going to convert my daughters into a camper.
The reason for this post is to find out if anyone else has a 2015 1.6 hdi multispace because the dvla are charging her £290 where my car is band E which I think is £165.
There is only 6 months between my car and my daughters, I hope someone can help here on the forum.

A 2010 one is £140 but my 2017 is £290, is yours registered as disabled tax? The newer ones didn't get cheaper, as the emissions did not reduce much so they actually went up in VED on the new bands.

Mine meets Euro 6.5 but is still taxed at the full band being it has no rear seats or windows (van) yet a 2010 van with the same engine is £140 a year until 2014 or something.

My observations are general but check the govt ved tables, they are online for anyone to read.

Check the V5 to see if its registered as a van or car.

It's also worth remembering that a van will have a lower speed limit than a car on some roads!

I have just noticed on my daughters v5 the tax is light goods vehicle how is this because mine is classed as a car. Also if you check the dvla site and put in the reg it says its bandE just like mine is.
What is going on??

Dealer put the wrong details down at first registration. It happens. Good luck.

LGV is £290 so that explains the tax band. Now u have a fight with the DVLA.

The DVLA uses a banding system to determine the amount of vehicle tax based on the emissions of the vehicle. It's possible that your daughter's car is in a higher band due to emissions, even though it's only 6 months newer than yours. Try to double-check the vehicle's emissions and make sure the banding is correct. You can also contact the DVLA and inquire about the discrepancy. It's also a good idea to keep all the paystubs and records of the vehicle tax payments in case you need to provide proof of the banding or emissions. I hope this helps and good luck with the camper conversion!

Did your daughter's car come with windows factory fitted? If so, there's a good case for getting it re-classified as a diesel car by DVLA. As it was a WAV, maybe someone got it re-classified from Tax Exempt to LGV? Until you do that, take note of JJ9's post about speed limits.
