temperature of engine.

I have a 06 lingo and the temperature seems to stay normal in most conditions but recently on longer journeys the temp seems to rise to just under 3/4.This seems a bit high to me but a recent garage visit indicated no faults.just had original thermosttat fitted and diagnostics say stat opening at 90.trouble is citroen say it should open at between 70 & 80.it must be getting up to 100 though.am confused.please help
