Berlingo Factory Alarm Retrofitting advice
#1
Hi all,

Just been acquiring a fresh Berlingo in the form of a 2017 Multispace Flair 120 with 21000 on the clock.
I noticed it has central locking as per my Enterprise van, but not the factory alarm, as the van came with.
I've searched the forum but not found anyone who's added this bit themselves, so I'm wondering if this is for a very good reason?
I know the easy way out is to get some aftermarket kit etc, but the Citroen unit on my van gave 8 trouble free years, without a single false alarm or fault, so I'd prefer the same again if possible. Also I wondered (hoped!) some of the wiring might already be there.
Does PSA still make a kit (heard varying rumours), as I can only find some parts available online?

As usual, opinions and good ideas are always welcome, so thanks in advance!

I've thought about fitting a used one, and coding it in with DiagBox. I was surprised to find my enterprise van didn't come with an alarm as standard, only an immobilizer and a tracker (which I didn't end up paying to activate as it's too expensive to justify)

I've seen a few in eBay quite cheap but never looked right into a retrofit. May need other sensors too.

Could you do a sneaky swap with your van's alarm and looms?

I could,,, but the new owner might waken up and see the activity during the night on his drive!  Big Grin

Yes, in short I advertised it and it went within a week. Now if only it'd taken longer  Wink

I did see a document (pdf) on the net a while ago, which seemed to show an aftermarket kit with Peugeot logo etc on the header. It showed a step by step guide with a variety of part numbers. It seemed to show the use of some existing wiring, but also an extra bit which went to the siren. It showed the inner wheel arch shield coming off for the job too. I thought I'd copied it, but looks like I haven't and now I can't find it again....

Going to Citroen dealer tomorrow for a warranty checkup, so I will ask the question while I'm there.

Hi Zion,
My Enterprise van was a promotion (they were trying to get rid of them at the month end!) when I bought it in 2012. It came with the Tracker with 12 months free subscription, the factory alarm and also the worst satnav known to mankind. I took the little satnav screen unit off, as it used to fall off every third or fourth day anyway and sold it on ebay. I connected my Tomtom to the usb lead left behind and made do with the factory alarm and tracker. When the tracker subscription ran out, I didn't renew it.

I somehow felt more "at home" in the van than I do with the new Multispace. But I'm sure the road tax change from £280 per year to £30 per year.... (yes, same body shell, both 1600 turbo diesels WTF!) will help!

Yeah lol don't get me started on the bloody van Vs car road tax nonsense, both euro5 engines but the useless govt decided to tax them both differently.

I also read somewhere that to get round a legal import tax loophole, Citroen import them all as vans so they save a fortune from the import duty being lower, and then fit them out over here as cars.

No wonder they wouldn't confirm for me that the van meets the same emissions standards as the car so I could get the taxation class changed.

Under 2 tons, same bodyshell and engine....

And yep the original sat nav was so crap I threw mine in the bin and put a Garmin one in it.

Hi again,

After a bit of a delay I've found out there is a PSA Alarm kit which is part number 1612800080.

It "looks" plug and play.....

Does anyone have access to the installation instructions? I can't find them myself and it looks like you've got to buy it to get the manual.

Reason I ask is that I've now got my (very heavy!) camper conversion kit stuck in the back and don't want to have to remove it unless it's unavoidable.

As usual, all wise words, opinions and help is gratefully received.

Thanks to all. Keep safe and well.

I'm usually very good at turning up pdf manuals online, but this one defeated me so you are probably right.

Best I could do is a co who seems to have working knowledge of at least supplying them, and also giving advice to their customers:

https://peugeotpartsdirect.co.uk/product...o-control/

Even if you bought elsewhere, it may still be worth asking them if they'd sell you photocopied instructions - you might catch them in festive spirit.

This unit also seems to come as either OEM or a fitted option with a range of Citroens, and as an "accessory" with the Partner Tepee (see for example page 21 of this brochure), so for operating instructions it might be worth ploughing through their owner manuals.

I also found this offering which seems to include the paperwork - maybe it'd worth buying it, copying the manuals, and reselling it?

Warning:

My last link was to a website called xwildbear.com. I could find no geographical contact details for the company running it, only a gmail email address.

A bit of a dig suggests that it has only existed since 24 November, which combined with the great range of stock it is offering seems a bit suspicious.

There is an address associated with the url: 1316 Stadium Drive, Wareham, USA.

Probably a scam?
