I think the Ford version used Siemens injectors which were prone to issues more than the Bosch ones on the Citroen version. You might need to change them over onto the new engine and they would then match again what is coded in the ECU. The engine looks the same otherwise though.
They are (should be) the exact same engine and also used in the Mini SD, the Mazda 323 etc along with others.
You will need to fit your own flywheel and clutch of course but it doesn't sound far fetched to swap the engine for the one you have found. On the Ford and your original, did they both have the double tube air doser unit? or both have the later single tube version? If so, perfect I think otherwise you might have to swap the original over if different as the harness on your vehicle will be looking for and fit onto, the version your car came with as the double doser has from memory, extra wiring.
Finally depending on HP of the new engine, one range uses fixed geometry turbos and the others use variable geometry turbos so the control system is different. If your original is different to the new one, you would need to swap over the exhaust manifold from the old engine I think (assuming you are using your old turbo), but could be wrong here - depending on whether they are different where the turbo connects onto it, since one has a wastegate and the other doesn't (AFAIK). Mine is the wastegate type. Never looked at the Berlingo VGT close up.
