Biodiesel?

2004 1.9D Multispace. I presume it's OK to use biodiesel in this? The proper biodiesel that is, made from recycled chip oil treated with meths and alkali, NOT straight veg oil.

I wouldn't use biodiesel in anything. The quality is so variable and bacterial contamination of the fuel system a big problem. Seeing more and more injection pumps failing because of it.

Agree.....The risk of having to replace a fuel pump outweighs any saving that may be made from using common or garden bio-diesel.

Sometimes it says 6% or 7% bio fuel on the pump is that the same thing?

The risk of getting caught, having you vehicle taken away and a massive fine or custodial sentence is hardly worth the risk unless you are really on your arse and can't afford diesel.

The Customs and Excise guys do not f**k about, immediate action and you are right in the sh1t...

My friend (honest; it wasn't me) used red diesel years ago in an Astra 1.7TD.
Wouldn't dream of it now.
The Police, customs, VOSA, etc are s**t hot on to it now, especially with the price of fuel.
It's not worth it. Seriously.
You will lose your car/van.
You will go to court.
You will be fined.
You could go to prison.
You would be sh***ed up the bum.

Quite agree Martin,

Have seen it happen twice now, once when I worked for the council and a contractor on one of the sites was nicking the red stuff off site and got caught. Customs and Excise and Police rode in like the 7th cavalry.....

More recently was an instance of "laundered" or "washed" diesel that was being imported from "across the water" big style to a place where I was working, but that is all I am prepared to say on this instance.

The picture shows a fuel injection pump with 200 hours use that has bacterial contamination. It looks like corrosion but its actually caused by bacteria 'eating' the metal.

This is the accumulator and the piston in there is seized solid.

Regards red diesel - don't go there. We were recently visited at work by HMRC and they parked in front of the exit and asked everyone with company vehicles to hand over the keys and they dipped everyones tanks. Then gave us a ticking off for not having a label on the red diesel bulk tank stating that it was red and not for road use! I did say as I had a company credit card there was no need to use red! Think they went away disappointed!

Tell you what? I'll edit my previous posts so that there is no mention of RED DIESEL.
It was a tongue-in-cheek remark that was clearly taken to be a serious comment/suggestion.
