fuel cap sealing washer
#1
I am trying to replace the sealing washer that sits underneath the fuel cap on my 2001 berlingo as it has failed the MOT because of this.

I cannot however for the life of me remember whether it was attached to the fuel cap or around the the filler neck as my one has broken and fallen off.
I would be very grateful if anyone can help.

It is a plastic to plastic joint on my diesel partner (96) which looks as if its a new cap needed.
I dont know if petrol is different.
Is it the filler neck that has broken off?

Thank you for the reply.
The fuel cap is fine. I have done some research and I believe it is the gasket around the top of the filler neck that is missing.
The filler neck was broken and I have now replaced it but I didn't realise there should be a gasket around the top that the three screws go through when attaching to the bodywork.
I think this is what the MOT garage have referred to as the sealing washer
Many thanks again for your help.

Ahhh I see what you mean now, you'll have to take off the filler again and put the washer on . did'nt think that would be a MOT failure

Hi Rustscrat .
it said fuel cap/sealing device sealing washer missing (7.2.4c) and
fuel cap/sealing device mounting flange/sealing method defective (7.2.4c)
The mounting flange was broken and I have replaced the filler neck but i'm wondering whether there should be a seal around the top of the neck that fits outside the bodywork and the three retaining screws hold it in place

Yes I think it must be part number 2 on the diagram.
However that shows the washer as fitting behind the bodywork.
I have ordered that part and i'll see when it arrives.

Thanks for the picture
