I'm sure you have tried everything by the sounds of things, but I find that you need to be very gentle when picking up drive, once the wheels are rolling you can be harder. I find when booting it from standstill it does change up quicker. There's a definite knack to it

Success! Had to get out of the way of a fast approaching white Transit tonight - so gripped the steering wheel, said a quick prayer, floored it and it took off cleanly through the Rev range like the proverbial off a shovel! I think it must just have its off days when it doesn't want to be rushed! Thanks to everyone for their helpful posts.

^^ I agree, it's a very relaxing drive, In fact I'd say stressless.
I wouldn't change my ETG6 for a manual model however many gears it had got !
