Which driveshaft is right?
#11
The sump?

Don't know what engine you have, but the sump on my 1.4i is held in place with M6 bolts.

*Sigh*

The bolts left England last friday, and have yet to be updated in tracking with even an arrival in Norway notice.

I may need to start grining down M8 bolts and rethreading them.
(I really don't want to because cutting threads reduces the strength of the bolt significantly compared to rolled threads as most bolts have today. Also, it's a PITA to get it right.)

1.9 DW8 engine, when the sump rotted through in spite of regular anti rust treatment I replaced it with an alloy sump from another PSA model that used the same engine but with aircon. It needed longer bolts to fit it and they are M7. I had thought M6 and had plenty in stock. I didnt discover the problem until I was halfway through the job. Fortunately my local Citroen agent is very good and the ordered them on a VOR so that they came the next day. The sump cost £35 new but the bolts were over £40, there are 2 different lengths I know a steel sump would have been cheaper but it is on our camper and we have had it 13 years already.

I did get the new driveshaft, though...

But it has holes on the end for castellated nut and a split pin, not the groove that you hammer a part of the edge of the nut into.
And of course it didn't come with either nut or pin.

I have a new nut - which has an extended 'sleeve' and an R clip, both of which came with a wheel bearing kit. You are welcome to both for the postage cost from Ireland.  However ...the nuts aren't castellated - instead there is a castellated washer that fits outboard of the nut - once the nut is tightened you position the washer to match the nut faces/hole and put the R clip in place.

That looks quite a bit like the original nuts, and I already have new ones like that.
I'll probably just mill a new groove in the shaft.
(I have a small Sherline mill and a few Tungsten Carbide endmills...  )

Now, if only the post could effing pull out their finger and start sorting the mountains of post that's building up somewhere in their warehouses...

My old driveshaft has a slot cut across the threads, and after you torque up the nut, you take a hammer and chisel, and give the neck of the nut a couple of taps so that it deforms into the slot.
No weird cap or pin used.
The nuts I have are made for this.

I think the nut with the castellated washer and R clip is later. I would try to buy them, at leats tey are reuseable

Maybe another time. I want to get my car back on the road again soon.
It's been up on jackstands for weeks now...
