Oil Leak
#1
Hi there, I have a 2010 Berlingo Van 1.6HDI and have just noticed an oil leak at the driver's side of the engine. It seems to be coming from the cover behind the timing belt, down near the alternator. Anyone have any ideas what this could be?

I did try searching Coco but can't find anything about it. It's definitely not coming from the sump as it seems to start about teh alternator and then eventuallu weeps onto sump. Just hoped that someone on here would have experienced a similar problem

There is a post somewhere here that, I believe, says that a leak from the cam belt cover can occur.

Isn't it under warranty on a 2010 plate?

The 1.6hdi Engine doesn't have a cam belt. Brilliant :-)

Anyway isn't it still under warranty?

No it has a cam chain. I have been told by the BMW dealership anyway. I haven't actually seen it myself.
Unless the mini cooper D has a different version of the engine?!
