The Berlingo camping thread

Hi all, this thread was of great use when I was carrying out my basic berlingo conversion so... thanks all!

The time has come to sell it as I am heading home, so if anyone is interested please see here

I'm selling cheap as I have very limited time before leaving the country!

Used to have a ducato to camp in - plenty of space, good headroom. Now 'downsized' to lingo van. I've put a 'picnic' seat in passenger side so I have room for a motorbike and/or fishing bedchair ( about £70, but folds up smallish ). Have a drive-away about 10 feet square which is really too big and difficult to put up single-handed. Anyone recommend a rear tent/awning which will go over roof?

Packashack say don't run the engine when the tent is connected to the back of the car!illyme:

You could get CO poisoning, get covered in black soot or drive off draging the whole lot behind you I suppose. Sensible advice :thumbsup:

It seems to be a popular subject, so I thought that we could have a thread with Berlingo-based camping tips, equipment, recommendations for sites and so on.

I had seen a couple of photos for storage units that allow sleeping on top, but not seen any plans to make these or know if these are commercially available?

I have also seen various tailgate canopies both for sale and home-made, and was wondering in this was something that anyone has bought or made up themselves?

How about window shades or curtains if sleeping in the Berlingo?

I have always loved camping, but this Summer will be the first time with the wife and kids along (starting off with a few days in Dorset) so will be a whole new experience for everyone

I have just finished my Berlingo Camper. Last weekend I took it on it first outing, I camped Friday and Saturday nights, and to my amazement every went like clockwork. There is ample room for my wife and me, to cook, eat and relax. and the bed was so comfortable, I had a brill nights sleep. I thought that I would have to do some modification after the first outing, the only thing I need to change is my organization.
So my next camping trip will be Bank Holiday weekend, I'll be off to the seaside - Bournemouth.

I'll be building my own camper this summer for a two week trip to europe, I had planned on copying the bootjump design although I hated the fact you had to stand outside to cook. Have to say that your design is the best I've seen, and I've been looking everywhere and have folders full of photos for inspiration. Hope you don't mind if I base my camper on your design! Thanks for posting the photos
