MOT day today, part of the deal when I bought the motor from Citroen Manchester (Sale, Cheshire) was free MOTs for "life"..... kept thinking it has passed the last twice, will it fail this time and will I have to dig deep !!!!
Nail biting sitting in reception then service manager came across "Sorry it has failed" Failed on an inop brake light (bulb), new bulb fitted @ £1.75 nil labour charge, MOT f.o.c. and car washed/mini valet.....happy bunny. Advised that 3 tyres were becoming worn and also told that the clutch (non MOT item) is getting heavy and poss worn (been like that since I had it and common fault). They can replace it for a fixed price of £699.00 !!!! oh right...

How do they know the clutch is getting heavy? Can they remember it from last year?

My clutch has always been heavy and I've done over 100k in it.

Eay one matey, they put 699 pound coins in a tube and rest it on the clutch pedal, if it depresses then it is ok, if no movement detected then it is time to relieve the customer of his c.£700 but Andrew knows different..... when it slips, and it ain't bucked yet even on hill starts with a 13ft caravan on its back, then I will consider replacement but will shop around for the best price as I am no longer physically able to lift gearboxes out and in like I used to do due to a heart condition...

Mine failed due to the rust worm , thought it was a small rust worm but since having a look under the fuse box , the main structure holding the suspension in place has a 3x1" hole.
So battery, battery box, fusebox ,fusebox holder/box , glowpug ? relay off and disconnect all the main wires in prep for a welding jobbie.

Oh and a brake hose perished.

Not too bad I suppose for a 96 model but if any more worms found it will be a trip to the scappie. Sad . Hope not, I will miss it especially as its had a new cam belt and exhaust system and two new tyres in the last six months, gets 37 mpg and has not used any oil

To be fair, I have read the paperwork and agree entirely with the testers opinion of what were notifiables, I forgot to add that that N/S and O/S indicator bulbs (orange originally) had lost their colouration and were showing white. The comments about the clutch appeared on a separate document entitled "Complementary Vehicle Health Check" which I have never had before. The dealership has also had several key personnell changes including service mgr and sales mgr so perhaps this is their way of doing things....

Back to Berlingo 3 wipers, the areo 16 & 26inch. If anybody is interested, just ordered a pair of Bosch wipers online from Eurocarparts for £22.62 total, post free. GSF were £30 & Halfrauds £36.

Blurb on the Aol dot com site today lists the B'lingo as the second most likely car on the UK market to fail it's firts MoT.
Pass rate: 67.84 per cent
Average mileage: 43,437
Total tests: 7,182

Only Renault's Kangoo was worse

The blurb originated from a site tootcompare.com about which I know nothing.
