[Warning Light] throttle position sensor
#1
Hi

Newbie.  I searched but no results for throttle position sensor. EML on.  The diags say TPS fault.  Firstly is it on the pedal please? Second is it possible to clean it?  Third is there an alternative to Citroen Genuine Part?

Berlingo 1.6 HDi 90 (92 hp / 68 kW) 2012

Thanks

What's the actual code your getting ? Generic diagnostic tools are notoriously bad on these. Often pulling the wrong code description.

Diesels don't have a throttle plate like a petrol. The pedal is electronic and the engine is revved by the ecu increasing the injection rate.

I see, fly by wire. Thank Zion.

The TPS was given as the cause by Roadside Assitance oppo on his diags, however I have just had another diag readout: attached

Advice please?

Ok, so the actual official definition is as below

P0102 Flowmeter signal : Measured flow less than the minimum flow

So it is likely you have either

1. Fitted an EGR blank plate recently
or
2. The MAF sensor is bad.
or
3. The EGR is jammed open

If you have not fitted an EGR blank plate (which does not work on the B9, it flags the faults above) then try unplugging the MAF sensor when the ignition is off, then start it and see if it drives correctly after the MAF is disconnected, if so, then likely it needs a new MAF sensor.

Also check for splits or gaps in the plastic pipes of the intake after the MAF and between air filter and turbo inlet.

Thanks Zion,   I haven't done anything to this car except stall the engine, after which the EML came on.  I think it might be the EGR plug has become detatched due to the cabling being too tight.  I will check when the vehicle is back.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8HS2iQKpJI  If its not that I'll try your other suggestions. Thanks again.

That's a good video, I love LM Auto Repairs and follow his stuff, also a member of his own forum - recent discovery.
