Wind noise at speed
#11
Update...
I have removed the roof rails completely, and taped up every joint from the front doors forward to get rid of any gaps or steps.
It's still doing it.

I'm going to try the rear doors and tailgate next, but it could be a couple of weeks before I get the chance.
In the meantime, any other suggestions are welcome !

Thanks,
Paul

I temporarily removed my undertray after a oil change,  ran around for about 40-50 miles, it was noticeable much noisy,  didn't try it at motorway speeds but worth a look under the car to check all is well....

I have it booked in for a service in two weeks time. Hopefully, I can talk to the mechanic, and ask him some questions, and get him to look over the underside.

Cheers,
Paul

Further update....
I went round the car and taped up EVERY joint - bumper to bumper, then got my wife to tape up the drivers door once I was in.

It's still doing it ! Huh   Angry Angry Angry
(I even tried with the door mirrors folded in)

So.  Logic says.....  It must be the underside.

Stay tuned - I'll let you know.

Cheers,
Paul

Just for info, after I refitted the undertray, it went back in the same position, but the trailing edge of the front inner wheel arch left a small gap (that made an annoying noise) , I guess at the factory they fit the arch first then the undertray? Anyway I stuck on two closed cell foam strips and the noise/tapping went away. Just shows how sensitive the 'fit' can be. I fitted a spare wheel too, but that had absolutely no effect on noise at all.

I have experienced this wind noise and it was cause by windows not fully shut. Check that the window seals have not been dislodge or for some foreign object trapped.

You might as well check door seals as well as I find the rear passenger door seal at the bottom leading corner can be dislodged and cause increased noise.

I have had acrylic window deflector shields fitted in the past which didn't help either.

I.T. is there to help, but unforgiving if you make a mistake
