[Engine] Rocker cover gasket
#1
I'm about to change the glow plugs as I'm having difficulty starting. When I looked at them (to see how difficult it was) I noticed that there seems to be a leak from the rocker cover gasket. So I thought I might as well change that too. However...... Carparts4less (or Eurocarparts they're the same) list an upper and a lower gasket which seem to have different shapes. Are there really 2 gaskets? If not which one do I need?

The leak (it's not a new one) appears to be just above the glowplug at the fuel filter/gearbox end of the engine.

There's only 1 cover therefore only 1 gasket. All you need to discover is which one.Did you give VIN &/or reg no?

Looking at the Haynes book they mention an upper and lower engine cover and gasket so it looks like I need both, I suppose.

When I went to Eurocarparts I just used the Reg no. There isn't any means of searching via VIN on their site.

There are two gaskets, inferieur and superior. Citroën only cater for the top one as a separate part; you need to buy an engine gasket set to get the both or a lower item. Nice work, if you can get it.

As per the pictures (hey, the internet is trustworthy, right?) your Febi one is the lower or inferior unit whilst the Rienze item is the topmost one.

I'll have an investigate once I've got the airducting off when I change the glow plugs on Saturday. I was hoping not to have to spend too much money by buying extra gaskets.

Well that's a result then, bearing in mind that 'superior' gasket is cheaper than the
'inferior' alternative!

Mal, the original Pt. No. for your engine is "0249 95".
There's some listed on ebay but I'd get a price from main dealer first. Confusedalut:
