It was a light hearted joke... Mearly pointing out the fact that you shouldn't stick anything in there....
Matt I don't know where your lighter socket is positioned but on my B59 its next to the gearstick, to access this you first remove the cowling from around the handbrake and then unscrew the centre console, you should be able to reach up inside to disconnect the wiring and push it out.
