2.0 hdi engine oil
#1
I am going to change the oil on my 2004 2.0hdi at the weekend and wondering which oil to go for. Total Quartz 9000 5w40 seems to be recommended alot on forums.
This will be the first oil change since buying the van so just checked it's history and find that 10,000 miles ago it had a major service and 10w40 semi was used.
So, should I stick with the old 10w40 or go for the modern recommend of 5w40??

On my previous 1.9 van, I preferred 10w40. I did try the lighter grade but the engine started knocking a bit more.

Thanks for the suggestions gents. Since it has a full dealer history of using 10w40 semi I decided to stick with that and used Total Quartz 10w40 semi.
