My handbook quotes 16,500 miles or annualy.

How much is 17 litres of adblue? I've only ever seen it at garages so can't really gauge the true price.

I purchased 20 litres last week from Eurocarparts for £13.95 + vat. It took 10 litres to ill a new 308 estate, this had done 8000 miles, so you can calculate the cost yourself.

So assuming 10 litres is filled every 10,000 miles - thats about £7 a refill inc VAT?

I think i read somewhere that the 1.6hdi should only need topping up with eolys at 75,000 miles but generally it will last for about 125,000 miles - I dont think the tank is all that large either, top up is about 1 litre so the tank can only be 2 litres at best?

At £40 a litre or so it seems, even if you topped up with 2 litres at 80,000 miles thats still only £8 per 10,000 miles but assuming you do the refill at 125,000 miles, you've got more bang for your buck?

Obviously its all hypothetical as I don't know what trade prices on eolys is and exactly how much needs to be topped up - i'm just going on figures i've picked up along the way. In the grand scheme it really isn't expensive anyway - we will pay more for decent oil per service than you will adblue or eolys!

If topping up a car with Adblue is as simple of topping up a truck with the same then it's a vast improvement over Eolys which for most of us is a garage job to replace bag, no doubt at considerable cost. Trucks have used Adblue for yrs & it's just a tank on the chassis to be filled up as required by driver while filling up with diesel. The 44tonne truck I used to drive required a weekly fill. We had a tank of Adblue by diesel pump.

I have a new hdi egs which uses Adblue. I saw 1.5 litre bottles of Adblue in Tesco for £10, an absolute ripoff! I have heard that the Citroen dealer price is similarly high but I have not enquired yet.
The commercial Adblue pumps for Lorries & coaches have a different type of filler to cars. See https://www.sptass.eu/sites/default/file...140307.pdf
This indicates that you cannot fill your own container from a commercial vehicle pump due to a magnetic  safety interlock. I have been unable to discover any filling stations with Adblue pumps for cars.
There are plenty of suppliers of 20 litres drums for less than £20 delivered on eBay.
I am going to France soon & I've read that Adblue is cheaper there. I'll report back.

Ad blue is easy DIY, and no reprograming.
PS. Don't think of watering it down as most tanks have a "quality" sensor and will throw a wobbly if you do.

I've seen 5litre containers of Adblue at service stations. If you google you can find 10litres for £10.

Thought I would update on the situation. I decided to have a go at it myself. Took the tank off under the car which was really simple and found out the eolys fluid is actually held in a sack/pouch. I phoned up the citroen dealer and got a new sack (135 quid lol)plugged it back in to the pump and screwed it back on again. I took the car a good run in a lower gear to kick start it. THe dpf light still comes on when engine starts. Will I need to take to garage to get them to reset this ? And will the pump etc for the fluid just start working again itself ?

Cheers
