[Steering & Suspension] got a few probs advice needed

can you bolt the axle on in the wrong place then? i would of thought its got locating bolts or studs, asfor the paint on the axle its not full up with mud but axle does have surface rust, i dont think they changed axle think he said axle was done and it cost £1000, he did say its in service history but ive not checked yet

Your steering issue could be the strut top bearing seized. The spring won't want to turn with the rest of the strut so tries to return the steering the other way, like a clock spring.

ok you could be on to something there, wen driven over slight bumps i can here a banging and it sounds like its coming from the top strut mount, the steering when turning 1/4 turn tries to straighten up only say half inch but when cornering  will do this two or three times

Had that with mine,turns out it was broken front spring,

Rear wheels don't sit exactly in the centre of the arch, if ones further back than the other then it's bent, but it's exceedingly rare!! A seized or worn axle wouldn't result in this either, just excessive camber generally and funny tyre wear... I'd suspect the axle is fine if as you've now said the distances are similar...

As for steering if it was a UJ it would be tight... Loose... Tight... Loose in similar places of the wheel, more likely to be a rack issue I'd think

ok thanks for your advice, buy chance ive bought another berlingo van for spares the back axle looks good, but its had a good bash in the front so not sure if steering parts will be ok so il have a look and see whats what, so BREAKING A BERLINGO VAN IF YOU WANT PARTS BE QUICK IT WONT BE AROUND LONG, 07582537803 ADAM PORTSMOUTH
