Running at low mileage - anything to watch?

No emissions test on a diesel, just a visual smoke check. I learned that here. But vehicles from the B9 onwards will throw a fit if the EGR is tampered with or blanked. Older versions don't care.

It is technically illegal, so blanking the ones you can blank without errors does work, and is then dependent on where your moral compass is set to.

The blank on the M59 cannot be seen or detected. It throws no errors except for a stored code for "airflow higher than expected"

B9's can't be blanked, it has to be mapped out.

OK thanks. It has taken over 180,000 miles to get to this state of being completely choked so I might just reinstate everything back to original when it goes back together. I doubt that the engine could be expected to compete another 180,000. Or could it....pretty sure the government will tax diesels like this off the road soon anyway. Nearly £300 / year is bad enough
