Locked Boot HELP PLEASE?!
#1
:censored: :censored: :censored: Back Door is locked on my 98 Berlingo Van (single door/opens upwards). I locked it with the key...now it won't unlock. Is there any way I can unlock from within the Van? Can't see any unlocking devices! Please help..I'm supposed to be helping someone move!!!
If it ain't broke...don't!

Welcome to the forum, nice intro.....

Should be able to open it with the handle on the inside of the door? Assuming its barn doors.

Nope...it's single rear door that opens like a conventional hatchback on struts. There's no access to the lock from within that I am able to see.

I think you are going to have to remove the internal panel to get at the lock. If its anything like the twin doors the panel is held in by push in fittings. Get a slim flat forked blade and slide it in between panel and door and gentle lever the clips out then you should be able to get to the lock.
Are we there yet????? Huh

Ok. I think I can manage this even with my limited abilities! Thanks, I guess then I can use something to lever the lock back to the unlock position? It's not my day clearly. Having cursed and sworn at the Van for doing that to me, I then could smell fuel...opened the bonnet to be greeted by a puddle of Diesel...god knows where that's coming from and so now my plans to help my friend move are clearly de-railed! :brickwall:

Sounds like you aint had a good day, the lock could be part of the linkage has come adrift from lock to handle. Good luck with the leak post the problem and im sure someone will have an idea.

Not my best day indeed! Thanks for the tip on the linkage. I guess that's what's happened as it locked/unlocked fine before. It got too dark to look at where the leak was coming from...wasn't at the fuel rail, it was at the front of the engine bay as you look into it on top of what I think is the fuel pump, about an egg cup full just puddled there. I will look in the morning and do a new post for it in the right place. I'm now going to see if I can open a can of beer...surely that can't go wrong!
