What Oil from Halfords.
#1
Could anybody tell me what oil should I be buying for my 1.6 Hdi (09) from Halfords.
Mine is well overdue and am wondering if also I should get a flush as well.

Anything special required tools wise.

Thanks.

Any 5W-30 that meets the B71 2290 spec will do the trick. I use TOTAL Quartz Ineo ecs 5W-30 but as stated, if an oil meets the spec then it is fine. You're taking a gamble if you leave it too long between oil and filter changes with an HDi.

Have a check around as Halfords are expensive for oil unless they have it on offer.

Asda are doing 4ltr of Castrol GTX in various different grades for £12

Well it's booked in for a service next saturday in my local garage, Thought about doing it myself but really can't be bothered but thanks for your advice. Going to get them to do the tyres at the same time.
Got a feeling the brakes are going to need doing as well.

Its slowing getting under my skin this Berlingo, 13,000 odd miles and all its cost me is fuel so far. Haven't spent a bean on it otherwise.

Glad to hear it's finally ground you down! Will you still get the VW when the time comes?

Unless something silly happens then yes I will get another Vw T5.

Having four springers a van is so much better for them and me but alas I might have to stick with the car until next year and then look at changing it then.
Its quite funny really as I do still have a love hate thing going for the car which is a shame as it is comfy and reliable and really hasn't been any bother so far.

Just need to find a way of getting the eco mode turned off and finding a permanent live wire inside the car for a cigarette lighter socket.

It will be interesting to see what it will be worth this time next year with nearly 70,000 miles on the clock.
