1.6HDI DV6 75hp Power Boost?
#1
From what i can find the 75 and 90hp versions are mechanically the same, so its just the ECU Map that is different.
Has anyone upped there 75 to the 90 map? any tips?
Also the 75/90 uses a fixed turbo, where as the 110hp uses a garrett VNT turbo. Anyone using one of them? (yes they do fit)
Feedback required

Your post prompted me to investigate VNT turbos, as I have one on my 110hp XTR.

Apparently VNT's do not use a wastegate like in a fixed turbo; the actuator is used to control the pitch of the movable vanes instead

It means a larger turbo can be used to get the overall maximum boost, but at low speeds the variable vanes are positioned to act like a smaller turbo making the boost come in sooner

Interesting stuff!!

yes thats right, a quick video here shows the basics for others to understand.

The 110hp version on my Focus dv6 works very well with overboost torque till about 1800rpm. I'd like to know if this VNT is the only difference between the 90 & 110hp versions?
I have fitted the VNT to a 90hp van and it certainly seemed to go well in the quick test i did Big Grin . Guess i'll have to fit the IHI standard turbo to compare?
Hoping someone else had tried these for feedback or even dyno proof.

Has anyone compared the 75 & 90hp versions to see if there is much difference when driving?

Hoping to get some response from others :brickwall:

Ive had a quote from Kap motor group Folkestone, £365 for a superchips remap. On the 75bhp the Website claims a 23bhp increase & 37lb/ft torque. If Someone can map the 75 to 115bhp safely then id be interested.

£365 is expensive. Go with Quantum Tuning. Money back guarantee.
Better performance, better on fuel and nicer to drive.
