Hi everyone I am a recent berlingo owner, I bought my 02 berlingo 600 1.9d 6 days ago, I am desperate for help the engine has now got a hole in it, have been well and truely done over, anyway I could do with some help, any ideas what engine she needs I think its a dw8b but don't want to purchase wrong one plz plz help lol,

What sort of hole - has it thrown a leg out of bed?

What sort of hole? Like a rod out of the side? And did you buy privately or a garage? Even if privately, I'd probably still be going back to the previous owner for a few 'words'

Something has came out of the engine it looks like the back tho as that's were all the oil has exploded out into engine bay, and it sounds like something is bouncing around, and I had to pick bits of metal up off the floor, rac man just said another one bites the dust

Need to make decision new engine or new van although I can't afford either
My van is what makes me money without one I'm screwed

Are you sure it's not just the gearbox exploding? they can do that quite well.

Sounds like a helpful RAC man. You really need to get someone to have a decent look and diagnose exactly what it is before making any decisions, you never know but it could be something pretty simple

Yeah I'm getting my mech to have so he can have a food look over it, I have a bad omen about this van now tho. It's not put me off berlingos,
I may put it in my garage and use it to learn more about diesel engines and get her back on the road
