Siemens Injection Tuning Box
#1
Hi all i have recently purchased a tuning box for the 2.0 hdi siemens injection engine, i paid £84.99 for it off Ebay from a company called TDI-Tuning.
I received it today so was very keen to get it fitted straight away to see if there would be any difference and i was pleasantly suprised, the engines seems to rev more freely and drives a lot smoother through the gears.
Acceleration has improved quite a lot and pulls extremely well in third gear.

I have read lots of mixed reviews on these little gadgets and decided to take a chance with this company as i phoned them before purchasing to have a chat and they seemed very knowledgeable about what they were selling and what i needed for the siemens injection engine.

Below is a link to the item on ebay

If their figure are correct, that means that you should be pushing near on 200 pound foot of torque, which is quite a decent gain. See how the MPG goes and report back.

Yeah I will let you know, it is a lot more responsive on set off , the figures quoted do seem a lot and I have no ways of testing them but never the less I am pleased with the performance from it so far. I will let you know about mpg after I have finished playing with it first Big Grin

Problem with tuning boxes are that they force the ECU to do things, I believe. Compared to a Remap where you place new software on the ECU. I've heard that Tuning boxes aren't good for your engine.

See how you get on though.

I have heard the same but on other hand I have heard good reports about them also the company who I bought it off seem to have a good reputation and seemed very knowledgeable when I spoke to them on the phone

Yes. Mine was a Tunit and was adjustable. I cranked it up to the maximum setting and there was a definite improvement in performance, with no drop in economy. It could be set to an economy setting, but I never tried that

all the tuning box does is fool the fuel pressure feedback signal or fuel temperature signal (depending on what tdi its for) so can't harm the engine except if the fuelling is too high then EGT's (exhaust gas temperatures) can be excessive but they shouldn't allow this to happen even on full power setting.
