The rain stopped for a while and I never quite got around to having a look but the rain came back, the noise noised so this morning I had a look.

This the the bit that I've already screwed down. I know this bit was loose as the first time we had the "noise" this was bent back against the wheel...dead give-away.

There's been some accident damage "repaired" in the past and this is the front trim from the passenger side. It's solid down the outer edge even if not put together correctly.

This inner piece is where it should be but very wobbly. However it seems no more wobbly that its equivalent on t'other side and that one doesn't make any noise.

These are general views of the other "stuff" in that corner. It looks fine to me, but what do I know? I'm still trying to work out where they've hidden the leaf-springs.
In conclusion, I can't see anything that's gratuitously loose. There's nothing obviously close to the drive shaft and CV joint either. I suppose it could still be the wobbly plastic but it'd have to bend an awfully long way.
NB: all the above photos are "clicky".
