[Steering & Suspension] Coilovers for 2004 2.0HDi Multispace?
#1
I'm so so fed up of chasing random front suspension rattles on my 04 plate HDi Multispace that I thought I might just replace the whole lot with new bottom arms and a set of coilovers. I've seen it done by other members.. I would just like to know what sets of coilovers they used and what top mounts? I'm not even bothered about lowering the thing, as long as it doesn't rattle!

So far it's had new top mount, bearing, spring, bottom arm and strut on the left, and all but a bottom arm on the right. Now the the CV joint is knackered on the left, and the right is harsh and rattles sometimes over certain bumps and road surfaces. I want to keep the vehicle, but this is beginning to drive me round the the twist.

If anyone can offer any advice on which sort of kit I can use on the front end , I'd really appreciate it. I'm sure I can get better than OEM, I guess some version of Pug 306 setup? The quality of standard aftermarket parts from GSF and ECP seems to vary wildly and I'm forever chasing knocks and rattles.

Thanks for any help!

Cheers
Mike

I would only go coilovers if you intend to go lower, if you stop at standard height all your gonna do is ruin the ride even further. Is there not a Citreon/Peugeot specialist nearby to have a look, or a listen in this case. Changing random parts trying to fix a fault can get very expensive as you have probably found.

Well, I trained as a mechanic at a Citroen main dealer back in the last 80s. It's been to 4 - yes 4 Citroen specialists, none of who can find the noise, over the last 2 years.  It had a new leg, strut, spring and top mount on the nearside in July 2013 because it had snapped the spring, and was also making a noise like a knackered old bed (Done by a Citroen specialist near Maidenhead)  and it had the same on the off-side about 3 weeks ago because it had snapped a spring, and there was a bit of noise from the top mount. As it was all in bits, it was all replaced. This was also done by a Citroen specialist (in Hastings), who's also had it back and in bits again to locate the noise, but.. there's nothing apparently wrong.

It's also been through 2 MOTs like this. I've even pointed out the noise to the tester, who's looked for it, but there's no play apparent in anything.

Damn thing still sounds like it's falling apart sometimes.
