I had my van made without ABS because:
1. you are spot on its frightening in the ice and snow.
2. i dont want the hassle when it goes wrong - they are more reliable now but i still dont want the hassle.

I didn't know that it was possible to get a car registered in Europe without abs etc these days.
Thanks for the info !

Not a car No but a van yes - well at least back in 2008 you could im not sure if you still can? I had to have it specially built took about 6 months to get it.
Mine is the same spec at the Enterprise (top of the range berlingo of the day) minus the ABS which is standard on the Enterprise.
It may be i managed to get one in the last years of this loophole.

After my recent abs fun I don't blame you .
I miss cars like my mini metro that I could service with ease, it didn't have abs, emission crap, air bags etc but I never needed to take it a garage for maintenance, that's why to this day I ride a old BMW R80RT it's nice and simple and because I can maintain it I can afford to have a bike.
Its a shame things got so complicated for enthusiastic home enthusiasts.

This is the one I miss most.
Cracking little car, with 1300 engine. Rebuilt from a wreck and enjoyed for years.
The one that got away!

My Partner Tepee is the best car in the world. It fixed itself...the error is gone and all is back to normal...After 3 weeks of running around with the warning lights on (fearful grin)...Last thing I did was changing the sensor, nothing else.
I fear if it is something to do with the front plug (in the abs pump) being corroded, but to check this is a pain. You have to remove the wheel arch plastic.

Check the twisted wiring before the sensor, it usually corrodes at the points where the cable ties hold it very firmly (too tight). You need to examine it very carefully, but it will 99% be a broken wire at one of these clip points.
I sorted this matter during the summer break, and the conclusion was that Lighty was exactly right!
Both wires of the twisted pair were ugly on the inside, the copper looked corroded and blackish (maybe due to the salt in winter time), and one of the wires was broken where the cable tie was holding it.
I removed a bit of the damaged cable and soldered a similar diameter copper cable patch. We have to care that the resistance of the lines remains similar to the original.
All sorted, as good as new now.
Obs: On the ABS pump side, the cable loom looked all ok, no corrosion near the plug to be seen, all the connections looked coppery and ok. The support where the Abs pump attaches to though looked a bit rusty...
Cheers
