Berlingo van central locking problem
#1
I have a 2014 Berlingo enterprise  van (the crew van)
I can't  lock any if the doors either with the remote or manually.
I can hear the locks engaging but they bounce back to an unlocked state.
A message comes on the display "rear left door open"

I don't  know if it means the tailgate door or the rear passenger sliding door.
Whatever the case neither door is open.

I've  tried to inspect the actuator inside the tailgate door but can't  see clearly enough.
I'd  like to disconnect and reconnect the electrical feed to the actuator (in case it's  a poor connection) but can't  see how to do so without breaking something.

I've googled this for hours and can find nothing.
Could anyone help by pointing me in the right direction or direct me to tutorials?
Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum.
Your doors won't stay locked as one of the doors is not closed properly. From the message, I'd say its the left sliding door. There should be some electrical contacts between the door & the frame that need to be connected when the door is closed. The contacts IIRC are on the pillar between the front & rear doors & the front inside of the sliding door.
You could try cleaning them with contact cleaner or perhaps white spirit & a pan scourer pad. I'd not use emery or wire wool unless absolutely necessary.

Many thanks for your reply. You prompted me to think that the problem might be the passenger side sliding door and hey presto I've identified the cause. There's a flexible cable attached to the inside of the door. That is fastened between the door and rear passenger seat. I folded the rear seats forward and removed a couple of pieces of trim which were in the way and there's a plastic connector which, when I fiddle with, cures the problem. Trouble is if I drive down the road, the problem comes back so I still haven't solved it but I'm 90% of the way there now. I need to find a way of securing the connection

My dashboard display is all messed up (that's on the to do list) so I couldn't see immediately which door it said was still open. On very close inspection I now can see it's the sliding door not the tailgate door.

If you know how to disconnect the dashboard display connector I could do with some advice. I've unclipped the display from the panelling but I'm somewhat ham-fisted  with electrical connections so I'm biding my time

Cheers again

Glad you're on the way to sorting it.
The centre display is called the MFD or Multi Function Display. There are loads of post on here about it, to get the connector off you need to move the hinged clip around the connector, the clip is held in place by a small tab on the connector. Press the tab and move the hinge, the connector will come out. It does not need any force so if it won't move easily, there's something not right.

Managed to disconnect the display. Is this a case of replacing the entire unit are are there bulbs internally that can be changed?

There are bulbs that can be changed, depends on what's wrong with the unit. If you search for MFD bulbs I think you'll find some info that'll help.
