and the crankshaft is 90 degrees past tdc
would this suggest that the crankshaft has possibly been culprit that is out??
If the crank is 90 degrees past TDC the pistons will all be at mid point so no chance of the valves hitting the pistons when you turn the camshaft.
I would turn the camshaft forward until the timing mark is correct. . . then turn the crank backwards 90 degrees to the timing mark.

hi i forgot to follow it up . i manually rotated the crank and camshaft to line up with holes. locked pump crankshaft and camshaft up and fitted new belt and kit. engine rotated freely. took 10 rotations to get pump to line up with the other 2 even though it isnt required but for piece of mind i kept rotating until the 3 lined. as all lined and engine was rotationg freely i turned the key when all parts put back together and thankfully all was ok. it somehow must have slipped timing i dont know who but it must have at the start.thanks everyone for your help and advice

Glad you got it working. Did you turn the crank backwards at first to get things lined up?
