diagnostics
#21
Indeed it does, so it seemed to suggest that Citroen had a policy in place of not sharing diagnostic data / codes which makes sense, as Diagbox is not publicly available. (officially) except to authorised / registered workshops

You can check for some (but maybe not all) recalls via the MOT history.
https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history

What I don't understand from the garage report is why they want to change the fuel tank? Maybe they meant adblue tank.

sorry for the delay in answering, I have had several hospital appointments and simply haven't been on the forums.
It states a new fuel tank required due to faulty additive valve, but doesn't state which one, he did mention eloys but as I said I ga=jave a adblue tank alongside the diesel cap.

The light is still on, the van is parked in my driveway awaiting on a call from citroen main office.

Quick update, I had to call citroen myself today as they hadn't got back to me. During the conversationit was mentioned that I apparently told the manager at the garage that my independant mechanic had said there was nothing wrong with the van !!!!!
I have been pulling my hair out at some of the things supposed tohave been said to the manager.
Anyway, they told me it had been escalted and would return my call this afternoon, I am still waiting Smile
I have absolutely no experience with engines and their problems, last time I looked under a bonnet was when they had carburettors in them Smile
I will wait till tomorrow afternoon for the call back and then I will have to take your advice and take it to a reputable dealer and have another diagnostic done to see what they say.
I also mentioned to citroen that the van has only done 38000 miles and is a 17 regged van. I was sort of hoping that it was still in warranty, but seeing as its 5 years old I won't be holding my breath, plus I am not the original purchaser.
Thanks again Lads, this forum has been a godsend, its kept me sane over the last few weeks.

There won't be any warranty buddy at least not from Citroen but hopefully you get to the bottom of this issue. Code scan, shouldn't cost much, then post the codes and we can see what's what.

Next get a trusted garage to have a look, may cost £50-£100 to get it looked over. Some may do that for free but time is money after all and they all have to eat. Then you might get somewhere.

Finally see if Citroen will foot the bill for the recall work - they certainly should if it's a recall. I have a 2013 Ford and it has a recall due, they offered to repair it free of charge and provide a courtesy car while it's in the dealer for the work.

Cheers Zion, they actually fitted a new catalyctic converter which was due on a recall, although no mention of that on my invoice.
I have found a good garage that will do a diagnostics for me for much less than the citroen one.
No obligation and they will show me the codes etc that they get up on the machine.
Wwill let you now the results.

Recieved a call from Citroen this morning, there is no code as such for the mechanical fault.
Unfortunately its wear and tear and all they can do for me is knock 25%off the 2000 bill.
No faith in the garage at all, so will have another dianostic don at a reputable garage and see what they find. Then it all comes down to cost, but either way looks like I am going to have to pay a substantial amount out.
Thanks for all the input fellas, much appreciated.

It's strange that you had the EML on and no code, hopefully your new garage will get to the bottom of the problem.

Whats actually hard to swallow is that this fault is on a van thats done less than 40000 miles.

A tank that's failed due to 'Wear & Tear' within 40000 miles seems a bit much to me. I can't remember the exact thread or post, but there was a recent story on here of someone challenging Citroen about selling vehicles with parts that they expected to fail within a short period of time. I think it was the adbule tank in that case?
