towbar electrics
#1
Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 2010 1.6 diesel Multispace?

I have fitted a towbar and now need to do the wiring connections, but just need the diagram to confirm what goes where.
Will I need to bring an indicator feed over from the other light cluster,or does all the wiring go to one side first......

Thanks

If I simply brought a wire from ther r/h cluster for the indicator, spliced into the l/h custer with a simple by-pass relay and got a perm-live from the thick white going back to the battery compartment, wouldn't this work.
Don't have any fancy traction control or parking sensors to wory about.
The main dealer wants £230 to program/power up the l/h wiring loom for the towbar electrics.

Hi:wave:

Have not wired a tow bar set up for years, therefore what I would do first is to Google " Tow bar Electrics "Confusedtudy:
Just done that and the first to come up was http://www.just-tow.co.uk/towbar-fitting.html :woop:
They should be able to supply everything AND at the bottom of the page they say if you phone them they will tell you what suits your vehicle.Big Grin
No doubt other forum members will be much more informative.

The connection for the right hand indicator can be made on the left side of the car,the loom splits there and goes to the right hand side.

Had a good look at the wiring today. It appears that the the wiring for the left and right hand side split into two looms at the front of the vehicle and therefore a cable for both the right light and right indicator have to be fed from one side to the other. There is of course a set of connections at the left hand side for the right hand cluster/towbar electrics, but these are only activated after the dealer has changed a relay and reprogrammed.Splicing into the existing looms(I prefer crimped lugs )and making the thick white cable live for the relay supply by taking out the management system for access to the maxi fuses hidden on the side of the fuse box.....
A bypass relay,a few meters of two core cable and a 20amp maxi fuse is all that was required.Dealer has said that not only is this OK,but I can use the garage ramp for fitting my next towbar on the new shape multispace which is now at the garage(I can also have a few of the 'glass like' clips that break whenever a trim is removed).....
This whole process took me about twenty mins on my 2010 model and looking at the new shaped car-everything is the same.
My price for the towbar + electrics £128.00 fitted. Dealer price £420.00
One last thing-the unexplainable rattle noises come for free with the new shape berlingo.......
