Can anyone give guidance about removing the central tray, I have lifted the felt pad to find a couple of hex head screws and a nut inside a deep recess, this seems straightforward. The anticipated problem is that the handbrake is surrounded by an integrated rigid plastic moulding ....... this is the problem, any suggestions about removing this handbrake moulding?

From a quick look at my enterprise van (the bench-seat arrangement) the moulding is in two halves either side of the lever.
Try to lever them apart in an inconspicuous area and be prepared for broken clips.
Find out how much a new one is first!

No problem in asking, hope to fit a 12volt socket, maybe the mini socket type depending on room, which will be wired to a constant live feed through a fused spur. Hopefully this will be a neat job.

Is yours a two piece or one piece moulding. if its a two piece then there should be four torx screws that you need to remove, after that your pull back the rear piece and lower the handbrake slightly to remove. refitting is the reverse procedure if my memory serves me well. But you shouldn't have much problems just remember to park on level ground and chock the wheels for safety.
don't touch the nut as this is the handbrake tensioner
