fitting a towbar and wiring to a new Berlingo
#11
My towbar was dealer fitted pre delivery.

They quoted a price for a fixed towball, we'd both forgotten about the parking sensors. In the event, they realised and fitted a removeable towball for no extra cost, a Thule item, good quality kit.

No idea how they've interfaced it, but the 13 pin caravan socket works, split charges correctly, beeps when indicating etc.

I don't think they've patched the software, because I have to turn off the parking sensors manually, and the rear fog lamp on the car is not disable with the caravan attached.

When I ordered my new XTR I asked the dealer to price for a towbar,he said I may as well get one fitted at the same place they send them to, and save myself a bit of money.
The price the dealer wanted to charge was around €400,but I got a detachable bar fitted for around €240.Just shows what mark up the dealers make on it.

I don't pull,or want to pull a caravan,so I have the basic lighting socket fitted.
I too have to switch the parking sensors off manually, but I was told by the people that fitted the towbar that it isn't always possible to have them switch off automatically when you connect up a caravan.
