Hi, just joined up as I bought a 2010 1.6hdi berlingo van today to replace my beloved relay I had for 8 yrs, I'm a small time self employed gardener and wanted a smaller van.

I'm wanting to change the engine oil and filter, where is the best place to ask what I may need please ?. Thanks  Smile

Not sure I understand your question.
If you mean where to get the parts- any autofactors can give you the correct parts from your reg no
If you mean tools required, then sump nut tool (square) from Halfords or similar, and suitable oil filter tool.
I use these

Yeah basically if I needed any special tools etc or which sump plug seal and oil filter housing O rings. Possibly torque settings to.
I've been reading the horror stories that surrounds the 1.6hdi motor... I thought being a pug/Citroen based unit I would not have to bother googling my purchase but... I did...

So I ordered a 5L Total Quartz Ineo 5w30 from eBay for £25, seems like a bargain for full synth. Will pick up a filter and sump washer tomorrow and hope it will bide me some time on what seems inevitable :-(

Well done and don't forget the air and fuel filter too so you have head start on it all.

Good point, do I really need to take all that stuff off to change an air filter ?, I hope the stories all over the Internet about blown turbos and blocked oil ways don't come my way, I have paid £3700 plus my old van as PX to buy this 2010 berlingo with 72k on it.  Confused

Mine is a touch earlier than yours with less to remove for the air filter so cannot comment. The turbo issue was with earlier models and should be ok now, keep using the quartz ineo oil and nothing else ! keep the level up to the max rather than low plus change early and you'll be ok.
Gardener = short runs ? then definitely change oil early for peace of mind many here do this including myself.

Hi Geoff, yes unfortunately short runs so I will have to purposely make a longer run, looking back I think I should have gone petrol rather than a modern diesel but I found it hard finding a van I could afford let alone a petrol version!.
The service history looks a bit sketchy to be honest, I checked for carbon build up around the injectors and they are clean and untouched. Hopefully I get lucky.

Thanks.
