If it's fitted with rear torsion bar suspension (I think that model is) the swing arm bearings tend to eat themselves giving the wheel a strange negative camber.

Take a look at the axel from the rear and does that wheel look like it's leaning inwards?

Mine was like that (both rear tyres) for over 15k miles and it never got any worse, likewise i've heard stories of bearings collapsing so bad the wheel rubs the arch. http://www.imaxle.co.uk do recon rear axles for a decent price

Yes the bearings can be replaced, but it's a difficult complicated time consuming job, add to that, if the bearings are knackered the axle pins will also be in the same state and they are almost impossible to change unless you have special equipment, you really are better off getting a reconditioned axle.

Take a look at the thread below, it details how to tell if the axle bearings are gone...

The thread below details how to fit grease nipples to the axle, this in most cases buys you a lot of time and is worthwhile even if the bearings seem to be ok.

As for the tyre ware, if the tyres you have are not directional you can have the tyre removed from the wheel and turned, so the inside edge is now on the outside, thus giving you twice the life from the tyre!  Wink
