[Engine] 'Airflow higher than recommended'
#11
Thanks for the further info, guys.

I think I will perhaps start the search for a replacement MAF just in case. Just got to work out exactly what engine I have installed. Can this be done from a search of the engine number or Lexia readout? Catcar still doesn't recognise the VIN numbers of either vehicle! Any other tips on finding out would be most useful. TIA.

Pull your ECU up and check the label for as a starter for 10:

75/90hp 16v diesel engine has a Bosch EDC16C34.
75/92hp 8v diesel engine has a Bosch EDC17C10.
112hp 8v diesel engine has a Siemens SID807.

Then from the KW rating on your V5 you can tell the HP, with both numbers you know what you have.

(That's if it's a 1.6 HDi - sorry should have asked)

If you want, PM me your VIN and I'll have a look in Cedre.

Cheers, Z.

On the van the ECU is a EDC17C10_B2 with a kW rating of 55 so that looks like a 75hp 8v diesel.

Will PM you the VINs for both vehicles to see what you come up with.

Good stuff mate. I sent you a link for your van data, and diagrams. Oddly, can't find the xtr info, the vin is rejected, tho your vin worked fine for me in catcar.

Your MAF is part number 1920RA. I mention this because the MAF doesn't appear under air & fuel section, but under inj calculator sensor section.

Cheers, mate, that actually looks like the bit that I thought it was.  Wink

BTW the van is hers, the XTR is mine! Big Grin

Will do a Lexia check on the XTR to see what VIN that throws up.  The number I gave you is on the V5, the Bill of Sale and on the little plate visible through the windscreen.

Haha I missed that fact, yeah you have the XTR and the missus has a van....ok!

Yeah that's a good idea, would be odd for it to be wrong in all 3 places eh. Interested to see what VIN Lexia turns up.

So just to refresh my ailing memory, is it the XTR you need or suspect the MAF for?

Also, I thought all B9 had B9xx in the vin as part of the engine and model identifier, as mine is B9HN as is your missus' van. I'd have thought your car would too but it doesn't....

It's the wife's van that may have the MAF problem.

The MOT for the XTR has the same VIN that I gave you so that's 4 things which show the same.

Yeah they'll take the vin from the previous MOT record but it only takes one typo at the DVLA or dealership keyboard initially to set it all up wrongly. I had a mate years ago who was stopped by the cops and charged with having a false registration on his car, he'd never touched it and it turned out the DVLA had issued two identical registration numbers to two different cars. When the traffic unit did the vehicle check, the other car was alphabetically first as in his was a cavalier and the other was an Astra...he ended up being issued a new reg number by the DVLA but it was a tense time.

Local bike shop tested a bike that came in for a first MOT and when they entered the VIN it was not for the registration on it. The fault was with the shop that had originally sold the bike, they gave him one same colour and everything but not the one he originally paid for. They had to find the other bike they had sold with his VIN and it took about a month to sort out.
So where does this bit go then ?

Check turbo waste gate I have seen that error related to it.
Waste gate is not opening properly hence MAF is reading more
air flow than baseline.
