front bumper removal to change headlights
#1
how hard do you have to pull the side of the bumper to release it, a bit weary as it is colour coded.

Which vehicle?

On the M59 (Mk2), don't forget to release the clip through the slot inside the wheelarch, then it needs a sharp tug or two to release it. Better give it a couple of measured goes rather than one almighty heave and end up on your arse !!

Don't forget to say hello and tell us a bit about yourself, have a look here:-

Thanks for that Coco , this is the first time I have used a forum ,as it is me that people ask about how to do this or that building, plumbing, decorating etc, also being 5 years on the gas conversion in the 70's I can usual take most things apart without instructions. I did look on the how to remove a Berlingo mk2 instructions, which is where I came across this forum. Sorry if there is some sort of etituette that I didn't follow. Will be sure to start with Hello next time.
I had removed one side before reading your advice,
Regards Chuck.
P.S. For future ref. for anyone else, the clips that hold the bumper req pushing down from above [with a stumpy srewdriver] then pull the bumper side away from the bodywork ,then forward.

Your P.S. is spot on. I have tried in the past to get that bumper off but was unable to figure out (even with some help here) how to release that clip. This morning I have replaced a smashed headlamp unit; because the unit was smashed away from it's fixing lugs and the headlamp came straight out, I was able to see clearly how the clip is released and it's just as you say. Annoyingly simple too!

Thanks for all the above - very useful as I wrestled with my front bumper.

I should like to add two things.

1. I found it helpful to slacken off the bolt holding the front wing on that is just inside the wheel arch (visible through the mud flap) and then I could get my screwdriver blade to depress the lug from the outside of the bumper (done carefully).

2. My number plate had been screwed on using overlong screws - these snagged when pulling the bumper off and also had to be released.
