berlingo window
#1
Hi, I have a 2013 625hdi berlingo van, for no reason the driver's window goes down on it's own when turning the key to on position.

I've read that it could be the E C M, with a faulty or dry solder, but am unable to locate where it is, as it's a mk2 model.

Also that it could be the B S I.

It doesn't effect the passenger window, it does go back up after 2 - 3 minutes, but won't operate at all when gone back up.

Any input, would be welcome.

Thanks Steve

The BSI is the controller of all things that are not  engine related, it's buried behind the glovebox and controls the windows. Looks like a fuse box, but it's not just a fuse box. It's the main computer for everything except the engine.

Try disconnecting the switch for that window and see if it no longer drops when switching on. If so, the switch is faulty. If it still does it, you have a problem with the BSI and that is not something you can fix easily yourself. It's coded to the car, contains the immobiliser and can't be swapped with a replacement without having access to Citroen DiagBox software to recode it, having been virginised first - this part cannot be done using any regular means and would have to be a specialist. There are a few around who virginise them so have a search online or in eBay if that needs done. The numbers on yours also have to match exactly to a replacement.

You may be able to swap the top PCB of the BSI if it's an output fault but the computer system on the bottom board needs to remain as it's the part coded to your vehicle.

So,

1.Try disconnecting the window switch first on the centre console and see what happens when you turn on the ignition. If you're lucky, the window will not move and you only need a new switch.

2. Next you can try a BSI reset (Google YouTube for the process) though it may not help if there is a physical fault on the BSI electronics.

Cross everything....cos if not, the next part (BSI fault) can be tricky and time consuming to resolve.

Have a read of this document, it explains the BSI functions for beginners:
