[Transmission] gear selector/linkage
#1
had a look today at my gear linkage (got to force it into gear), there is something missing on the long selection bar (1)

this is a fairly recent development as i noticed a week or so ago it was quite loud when selecting gears.

is there any place that sells them apart from Citroen? There is 1 one on ebay

Not sure if the Mk1 is the same as my Mk2 set up but I had to replace the long link rod on mine about 3 years ago and have just replaced 1 of the short link rods this afternoon. Bought mine from Citroen this morning. Looks like the rubber on yours has perished/parted company with the metal cap that sits on the ball part of the fixing. Probably be able to get replacements from the usual motor factors in your area, I tend to keep all my spares genuine if possible.

well i messed that up!

I thought I needed item number 1 as i thought there would be some sort of rubber in the hole. So i ordered a 2nd hand part and it arrived this morning only for it to look the exact same as the 1 i currently have!

can anyone confirm that the long selector shaft (item 1) should have a big empty hole where item 5 sits and that i actually need item 5?

Just a thought but looking at the picture and the parts diagram does part number 5 go into the large tube fitting on part number 1. I know its not marked a such in the diagram but it looks as it should. Is it part 5 you need? Just a thought.
Are we there yet????? Huh

You want the thing that goes in the hole in number 1 and holds the ball on the end of the bellcrank number 5 by the look of it.
So where does this bit go then ?

The "ball" on the end of No5 just sits in the tubular socket part of No1.All that holds it in place are the selector link rods(No3). They provide stability but also allow some movement to change gear. Roughly the same set up on my Mk 2.

Resurrecting this thread rather than start a new one. My niece has a Peugeot Partner 2.0hdi and has just rung me. She was out in the car yesterday and lost 4th and reverse and the gear lever has no travel into 1st and 3rd just a little movement and it is in gear. I'm going to have a look at it tomorrow but any pointers which part of the linkage it is most likely to be ?
So where does this bit go then ?

Just to report it's done now, it was the long bar from the bell crank to the actual gearbox (number 2 on the diagram) which had parted company and it was a pain to remove the broken bit but it took 30 seconds to replace the new one. Now has 5 forward and one reverse so she's happy again.
So where does this bit go then ?
